Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot brewed coffee

For the Coconut-Pecan Filling:

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1½ cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Coconut-Pecan Filling

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine evaporated milk, butter, brown sugar, and egg yolks. Stir constantly until thickened (about 5–7 minutes).
  2. Remove from heat and stir in coconut, pecans, and vanilla extract. Let it cool while preparing the cake batter.

Step 2: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour in hot coffee while mixing (batter will be thin, but that’s okay!).

Step 3: Assemble & Bake

  1. Pour half of the cake batter into the Bundt pan.
  2. Spoon the coconut-pecan filling over the batter, avoiding the edges.
  3. Pour the remaining batter over the filling.
  4. Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 4: Make the Chocolate Glaze

  1. Heat heavy cream until warm (but not boiling).
  2. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  3. Add butter and stir until glossy.

Step 5: Glaze & Serve

  1. Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the cooled Bundt cake.
  2. Let it set before slicing.
Serve & enjoy your rich, chocolatey, and nutty German Chocolate Bundt Cake! 🍰✨
